Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bailey of Washington celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday. December 26 with a reception at the Union Hall in Front Royal.
The Bailey's were married December 28, 1931 at her home on Greenfield farm just west of Washington (now owned by Mr, Schaffer) with the Rev. Luther Banks of Amissville performing the ceremony.
"In those days very few could afford a wedding trip or honeymoon." said Ethel. "We just stayed at home.” she added.
The Baileys lived in various areas of Rappahannock all of their lives except for a short stint in Pennsylvania where Edward was employed with a brick manufacturing plant. They have lived in their present home at the edge of Washington for 48 years.
