County Administrator John McCarthy told the Board of Supervisors of the governor’s plan during its meeting on Dec. 3. Mr. McCarthy said the state plan would not force the county to consolidate its office, but would no longer reimburse localities for salaries in offices that handle less than one and one-half percent of the total ?tate caseload.

Rappahannock County Social Services Director Beverly Bowen said, “Everything is very tentative right-now.” She said that most of the , members of the advisory committee didn’t oppose the idea of consolidation, but “want to see it studied.”
