on-job training
i A new one-year program featuring college credit for on-the-job training in Human Services paraprofessional career fields will begin Spring semester at Lord Fairfax Community College.
Applications for full-time and part-time candidates are being received now through registration scheduled for Jan. 9 and 10, noon until 7 pm.
The program features on-the-job career training and career planning in such fields as child care assistant, public school teacher assistant, social work and psychological services assistant positions. The Human Services Certificate program also includes college credit courses for general education, human development, psychology, and related subjects during the fall and spring.
This one-year certificate program was authorized by the Virginia Community College System to operate at LFCC in response to an increased demand for paraprofessionals in the human services career fields. The one-year certificate program js attracting a number of persons already employed as well as new students without job experience. The program can be completed within nine months for those who pursue their studies and on-the-job training on a full-time basis.
