David Anderson Jr. of Sperryville, an • employee of the Highway Department, received a wound on his hand requiring 75 stitches when he was struck by a 140-pound power hammer. He was hospitalized for several days at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Christmas trees are being offered for sale by the Washington Ladies Auxiliary at Merrill’s Garage. Both pine and cedar are available, with the proceeds going to the Washington Fire Company.
Army Spec. Robert L. Massie Jr., the son of Mrs. Frank Spalding of Flint Hill, has returned to the U.S. after spending two years stationed in Faumur, France. He will return to service at Fort Bragg, N.C., on Dec. 26.
