Essay contest deadline set for Dec. 20
The deadline for the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee’s Student Essay Contest is Dec. 20. The title is: “Martin Luther King Jr.'s I have a Dream: What the dream means to me."
Students in the 5th through 12th grades are invited to participate. Essays should be no more than 300 words in length. Service at Mt. Moriah

EMT course announced
The 110-hour Emergency Medical Technician course will be offered at the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company, beginning on Jan. 7 and continuing through May 13. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. Persons competing the course and passing the state examination will be certified in Virginia as EMTs.
The enrollment fee is $20 per student, and textbook cost (Brady’s Emergency Care) is approximately $60. Enrollees must have a current CPR card by Jan. 7. To register, call Ken Pullen at 675-3091.
