Agent Quince confirmed that Martin had been transported to Fauquier Hospital on Aug. 18, two days prior to his death.
Reached by phone. Martin’s older brother - John Martin also of Amissville — confirmed that Martin had “a long history of heart ailment.”
He said that his brother had been found unconscious and that according to the death “report," he had died of congestive heart failure.
Late on the night Martin ditni. the sheriff came to John Martin’s house, he said, to inform him of his brothers death.
He said the sheriff told him that Martin had been taken to Fauquier Hospital two days before for “asthma or shortness of breath" and was returned to the Kappuhunnock jail that same * night.
Martin was serving time for a probation violation - testing positive for narcotics use - stemming from a previous narcotics related conviction of possessing a “smoking device" with cocaine residue. He was serving a 12month sentence which began on April 4.
Martin had a previous parole violation in 2004 also for testing positive on a drug test. However, in a letter to the court dated April 1. Ellen Adams - a mental health and substance abuse clinician with Behavioral Healthcare of Rappahannock-Rapidan - stated that she had seen a “significant change” in Martin’s response to substance abuse
