The Rappahannock Association for the Arte and the Community kick* off its Friday Night at the Moviee aerie* on Sept. 5 with a romantic comedy “Mine Pettigrew Movi« Ravlcw Live* for a Day. —start*

at 8 p.m., at The Theatre on Gay Street in Washington.

This tittle him has a great cast, beautiful sets, gorgeous costumes and an interesting story line. Somehow, though, I can not think of Amy Adams (‘'Enchanted*') as a scamp (to put it politely) who sleeps hdr way to the top in 1939 London.

Miss Adams plays Delysia Lofosse, on American movie actress living in London who has grabbed onto the fast paced glamorous world of movies and stage. She has the fabulous clothes of the period and stays in an over* the-top penthouse (think gilded Sphinx. Art Deco furniture, Fred Astaire staircase) owned by her nightclub-owning boyfriend. Nick Colderelli (Mark Strong), But when the him opens she just happens to have spent the night there with a young, rakish Phil Goldman (Tbm Payne) whom she hopes will cast her in the starring role of the stage play being produced by his father. Into this pink satin with marabou feathers world plods Guinevere Pettigrew played by Academy award-winning actress Frances McDortnand

The down on her luck Miss ffettigrew, wearing her only possessions, is a study in drab: brown hat over mousy hair, brown coot over brown dress, brown shoes and support hose.

What happens in the next 24 hours is a fantasy we just have to accept. Clocks reign supreme on the Sets ticking away at the 24 hours in the lives of Miss fVttigrew ami all of the characters she h*comes involved with ns she magically solves all of their romantic problems.
