The Washington Town Planning Commission met Monday night to review Milton Herd’s draft summary of the town’s vision statement and input from the public meetings and visioning workshops conducted over the past year. After a brief discussion, the group concluded unanimously that they have sufficient information from Herd for them to proceed with the live-year mandatory review of the town’s Comprehensive Plans. Commission member Carolyn Thornton stated that, in her opinion, ‘all the (recommendations) stem around whether we have a good sewage system to accommodate the town’s needs. Town council member Steve Critaer. who also serves on the commission, noted that “at the last Wastewater Committee meeting, we chose a system recommended by the (Resources, International) engineers, and at the last town council meeting, the council took the committee’s recommendation...The Wastewater Committee and the town council are committed to having a sewage system in this town, whether it’s one year or five years down the road."
Sharp Rock Vineyards of Sperryville, nestled in the hills of Ruppahannock County in the Virginiu Piedmont, will hold its first wine festival on Saturday, Sept. 5 from noon until 5 p.m. This is the first of whut owners Marilyn ■«<» David Armor plan to be an annual event. The festival will feature not only the wines of Sharp Rock but bluegrass music'and food as well.
