James ‘A. Somers of Silver
Springs, Md., celebrated his 88th birthday anniversary Sunday, May 8, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Frank Goode at Flint Hill, - with about 75 friends and relaties present.
The huge birthday cake with 88 candles on it was presented tch Mr. Somenrby his granddaughters Misses Merle and Marie Goode, and Mrs. Lois Romano of Washington, D. C. He also received ■ many nice gifts and birthday cards. .
Mr. Somers, a farmer, was born at Luray, where he has spent most of his life.
Since his wife passed away eleven years ago he has made his home with his son and {laughter, , ^ Clarence Somers of Luray, and Mrs. J. D. Pfintz of'Silver Springs, Md. v * - T'4' Mr. Somers is the father* of , • eight children; 25 grandchildren, --and 15 great -grandchildren. He is still very active, keeps up with • the latest news, and is very fond of television.

JUNIOR METHODIST CLUB MET AT SPERRYVILLE

The Junior Methodist Club of Sperryville met Monday evening in the. home of Miss Elizabeth Smith. Betty Bruce, the president, called the meeting to order after which the minutes of the last meeting were read t>jr Jrn*m Brown. The Scripture lesson was read by Miss Margaret Devers, followed by a prayer.
