GEORGE D. NOAKES
George D. Noakes, 57, a well_known and highly esteemed citi; zen of Woodville, died Tuesday, April 24, at University hospital, following a short illness.
fcon of the late William and Louella Peyton Noakes of Rappa-' hannoek, he was barn and raised in the county. Surviving are his wife, three foster children, six sistt.s and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 29, from the Shiloh Baptist church at Woodville, with his pastor, Rev. C. H. Sanford, and Rev. R. L. Banks _officiating.---—Mr.
Noakes was a painter by trade and took a large interest in the affairs of his church and his community. He was known for his kindness and his readiness to help others in time of sickness and in need.
Pallbearers were Willie Dennis, Howard Jones, Charlie Williams, Clarence Wallace, Henry Glasker, and John Hay. Honorary pallbearers included James Rector, Howard Butler, Ellis Glasker, Ernest Childs, James Harrison, William Bracker, Silas Wallace, Herbert Peyton, Russell Aylor, Clifford Dennis, Tom Lynn Jones, Cooler Burrell, James Clark, Oscar Tur* ner, and Carroll Lawson.
Interment was in the family section of the church cemetery.
