The next Church in Bromfield Parish was St. Paul’s Chtirch at Woodville, which some years ago was destroyed by a tornado.
Members living around Washington, the county seat, determined to have a church, so a meeting was called, funds raised, and Trinity Church was built at a cost of $1800. This church was consecrated by Rt. Rev. John Johns, assistant Bishop of Virginia, on November 29, 1857. Rev. William T. Leavell was the first Rector of this Church. It is an interesting coincidence that his son, William T. Leavell, Jr., married a sister of the present Rector, Rev. W. G. Pendleton.
The records of the Parish are not complete, as some were destroyed during the war between the states. As far as we can, learn the Rectors are as follows: William T. Leavell; R. T. Brown; J. T. Minnigerode; J. M. Meredith; E. T. Worth; E. W. Hubard; W. N. Claybrook; W. N. Tillinghast; A. P. Gray; John Lloyd; Frank Cox; Carter Harrison; Lawrence Brent; Francis Allison; C. E. Range, and W. T. Waterhouse.
