Enlist In Air Force
Three recent enlistments in the U. S. Air Force from Rappahannock county are reported by the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Recruiting Station at' Culpeper. They include Charles G. Scroggins and Harvey T. Smoot, Jr., from Washington, and Charles M. Brown of Sperryville. All three left by plane from Washington, D.C., April 30 for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas to undergo six weeks of 'basic training there before being assigned to a permanent outfit in the Air Force.
Both the Army and the Air Force h)ave openings for both men and women, the recruiting office says.

AUXILIARY MEETS
At a meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Rappahannock Volunteer hire Company the following meetings and entertainments were decided on:
The June meeting will be held in the auxiliary kitchen to count equipment and clean kitchen. A benefit card party will be held May 17 at the fire house, Mrs. Wade Massie, Jr., and Mrs. R. L. Massie chairman. A lawn supper has been scheduled by the auxiliary for June. Plans were made to put lattice under fire house steps, W. H. Massie, Jr., was asked to act as chairman on this project.
The secretary of the auxiliary was asked to write a letter of appreciation to Mr. Massie thanking him for having the hemlocks moved on the line between the Rappahannock National Bank and the fire house. Irving sisk has made a folding booth which the ladies hope to, use this summer. One piece of shrubbery was authorized by the committee to be planted at the conservation marker.
