Hemorrhagic Septicemia — All calves must be vaccinated with Hemorrhagic Septicemia Bacterin 30 days before the date of sale and again 7-10 days before the date of sale and affidavits attesting to the two doses be presented to the sales management on the day of the sale.
Blackleg—All calves must be vaccinated with Blackleg Bacterin within 30 days of the date of sale.
Several Rappahannock farmers have indicated interest in Sorgo •which has been used in Fauquier county. Upon an investigation the following letter, which may prove of interest was received from Lemuel' Sutphin, County Agent'of that county.
*For the past several years, and it increased considerably last year, the farmers in the northern part of this county have been using Atlas Sorgo, which is a giant type of grain sorghum. These farmers have drilled Atlas JSorgo in rows such as they would drill corn. About 14 lb. of seed has been used per acre. The yield has been about 15 tons of silage per acre. The sorgo has been planted alone and in no case that I know of has it been planted with corn.
The farmers are well pleased with the silage which they made from Atlas Sorgo. It contains about the same total digestible nutrients as corn being low in protein but carrying a high content of sugars. Their chief reason for planting the sorgo, hoiwever, has been due to the fact that the Japanese Beetle does not damage this crop.”
