Cancer Crusade
Begins March 25
Virginia’s goal in this year’s Cancer Crusade, which will be conducted during the month of April, has been set at f 260,000. Of this amount, 27 per cent will be allocated for research, including projects at the University of Virginia and the Medical College of Virginia; 10% to assist in the support of tumor clinics in 11 cities and detection centers in 2 cities; 14% for patient aid, including all or part payment of bills for X-ray and radium treatments, room and board of outpatients, certain medicines, home care projects, loan and gift closets, dressings and emergency transportation; 20% for lay education, including operation of a Cancel-mobile to travel throughout the state with lectures, films, and exhibits, secondary school * workshops, meetings, publications and training schools; 10% for professional education, including the services of a traveling teacherphysician, m e e t i n g s, films, and scholarships for doctors and nurses; 9% for* administration; and 10% for fund raising.
The national goal for ths year’s campaign by the American Cancer Society has been set at $18,000,000. -
