oaniiary conditions and facilities for the farmhouse are essential for safe guarding the health of the farm family and the community. These should take first place in a family’s program of housing improvement.
Minimum sanitation requirements include:
(1.) A plentiful water supply, uncontaminated. This means a well, spring or cistern properly located, walled up, and securely covered to prevent contamination. (2.) A sanitary toilet iwhich meets State Health Department requirements. (3.) Windows and doors properly screened.
While the above are minimum, it is desirable for every family to achieve, as early as possible, sanitation facilities which are not only safe but convenient.. Running water and a bathroom contribute to health by making cleanliness easier to achieve saving human energy, making sewage disposal safe, and increasing physical comfort.
The family that wants running water and plumbing can get these advantages by degrees, if willing to plan and work for them. Every family could have at least a kitchen sink with a drain, and probably water piped to the kitchen, or a pump at the sink. 'SCHEDULE FOR NEXT WEEK
