One of the largest funeral /assemblages seen in Amissville in many years gathered at the Amissville Methodist Church to pay their last tribute to the late Mrs. Mary Lewis Tapp, widow of Elijah A. Tapp, on ‘Friday afternoon, March 14, which included many from the neighboring counties. Her death which brought universal sorrow throughout the community occurred Wednesday afternoon at her home in Amissville at 4 p.m. She was spoken of in her community as a fine neighbor and was highly esteemed for her many fine qqalities. She was a member of the Amissville Methodist Church. Her pastor, Rev. Norman J. Flythe, conducted the.- Services and a former pastor, R<V. E.E. Hendley assisted at the services, now he is located on the Madison charge. The members of the Amissville Methodist Church and Amissville Baptist Church rendered several song selections which were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Abide With Me."
Interment was made in the family section of the church cemetery.
