Organize Teams

A basketball meeting was held Thursday night, December 4, at Hampton Service Station, to organize the Rappmiannock Rockets basketball teams for both boys and girls. Those chosen for the girls’ team were Marianna Sisk, France^ Gilbert, Mrs. Marie Groseclose, Mrs. Beatrice Settle, Sally Dwyer, Ruby • Dwyer, Eleanor Cornell, Helen Coffey, Aileen Johnson, Louise Cloud, Barbara B. Payne and Gaynell Russell.

Those chosen for the boys’ team were Pete Clater, Gordon Thompson, Cecil Jackson, Bunny Settle, Don Groseclose, William Armentrout, Jackie Gilbert, Bob Cook, Carson Johnson, Nick Cascio and Charles Payne.

During, the meeting, Gibson Whorton was elected manager and Billy Gilbert elected assistant manager of the teams. Nick Cascio and Don Groseclose were elected coaches for the boys’ team and Mrs. Groseclose elected coach for the girls’ team. “Piggy" Russell was elected treasurer and Louise Cloud advertising agent.

A practice game was held at the Sperryville School auditorium December 5, at 7:30 p.m., between the Rappahannock High School teams and the Rappahannock Rockets.

CHURCH SERVICES

Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14. The topic of the message by the Rev. Profitt is “Christ’s Concern For Us.”

There has been good attendance at the regular services. The public is cordially invited. “Church going families are happier families.”

The Washngton Baptist Church i worshp services will follow the Sunday School hour Sunday, December 14, at 11 a.m. The topic of the message is “Strength Out of Weakness.”

The schedule of Worship Services for Universal Bible Sunday, December 14, for the Rappahannock Charge, The Methodist Church, is Jeffersonton 11 a.m., Oak Shade, 2:30 p.m., 3md Sperryville, 7:30 p.m. Rev. Menchhofer is preaching on “The Book of Life.”
