By W. H. Lyne, County Agent Arrangements have been made for W. H. Armstrong, manager, Virginia Artificial Breeding Association, Rocky Mount, Vrginia, to come to Rappahannock, December 17-19, inclusive to hold a series of meetings to explain: * \
1. Services the VABA offers.
2. Show color slides of the Jersey, Holstein and Guernsey herd sires owned by the VABA. 3. Display and explain pedigrees of these sires and production records back of them. 4. "Show color slides of their, daughters so yon will know what to expect once services of these bulls are made available to Rappahannock dairy cow owners. 5. General functions of an Artificial Breeding Association such as: equipment necessary, costs, and advantages being derived therefrom. Discussion meetings have been arranged as conveniently as possible taking in consideration cow population centers and the time Mr. Armstrong could allow us. They will be held as follows:
Wednesday, December 1/, Amissville School. Thursday, December 18, Sperryville School. Friday, December 19, Flint Hill School.
All discussions will get underway promptly at 7:30 o’clock in the evening and should not last later than nine.
All cow owners regardless of race, creed, big owner or owner of but a single family cow, townsman or ''countryman, are cordially invited and urged to attend one of these meetings. MADISON COW OWNERS INTERESTED \
Owners of 100-150 dairy cows in the vicinity of Etlan are keen to become members of the proposed association. To date Rappahannock owners have indicated they wish to subscribe 225 250 cows. 1950 census ~ figures show 3800 dairy cows in Rapphannock. ARTIFICIAL DAIRY CATTLE BREEDING POPULAR
During 1951 there were 4200 dairy cows bred artifically in Virginia. One Culpeper County association has 1800 cows subscribed. One thousand or more £ows are wanted for the pro-/ prosed Rappahannock Association. The more the cheaper your cost will be!
