The outlook for some of the important products is as follows:
Livestock and Meat—Cattle prices are likely to fall mode/ately. Possibly 10 to 15 per cent more cattle and calves will be slaughtered in 1953 than in 1952. Fewer hogs will be. marketed in the first 8 months of 1953 than during the same period in 1952, Possibly the spring pig crop will be as large or even larger than the 1952 spring crop. The sheep and lamb crop in 1953 is expected to be about the same as for 1952. Dairy Products—Due - to poor weather in some areas in 1952, farmers may be able to boost milk output slightly in 1953. Prices are likely to be a little higher and receipts' from marketings will probably increase. At the same time costs of production will be as high in 1953, if not higher than in 1952. Poultry and Eggs—Egg production this spring will probably be smaller than a year earlier and prices will probably be higher.
