Jacob was well acquainted’ with the shepherd Jife and knew just how far they could travel in a day without over driving and so he said, “I will lead on softly.” Yes, while Jacob was a good shepherd, we have a greater and more considerate shepherd* thai> he, the Lord Jesus Christ. He referred to Himself as the “Good Shepherd” ready to give his life for the sheep. This shepherd knows our weakness and temptations, therefore He prepared for our safety and assurance with the following promise. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." I Cor. 10:13.
If we will trust in this promise we will have no fear as we approach the unknown paths ahead.
