County Fire Companies
To Give Minstrel
At a joint meeting of the VFD’s of Rappahannock County held at the Washington Firehouse on Monday evening, March 16, a decision was reached to promote a combined minstrel show to be staged the latter part of May. In order to do so, the three VFD's present agreed tp hold a so? called talent assemblage at the auditorium of the Washington High School on Monday evening, March 30, at 8 p.fn. For this assemblage, all VFD's agreed to have present their 4>est minstrel talent—singers, musicians (both string and piano), comedians (end-men talent), dancers, etc. ,
At this meeting, it is hoped that the framework for the proposed minstrel show may be set up. We want to have a good, voluntary tum-out and be sure to come with your music boxes tuned, your vocal chords vibrating, your jocular veins pulsing, and your tap-toes jigging.
Froth Amissville, where the first show will be held, we need a , better turn out, both from the VFD and the Auxiliary. Among .those lined up for this show are: Charles Compton, Mitchell Green, Floyd Hitt Braxton James, Elmer Jenkins, A. C. Latham Jr., Elmer (“Snooks"* Lillard. Ralph Rowzie, Thomas Tear; also any ladies of the Auxiliary who can compose an act or fend a hand in staging the show. For management and publicity purpose, we would like to have present Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pafwley, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Slavik. Let's get there and see what can be done.** rjJ.: \ ' O/.v.'Q >
