Forest Warden
The forest fire control organization of Rappahannock County has been strengthened by the recent appointment of Edward G. Tapp, Virginia, as Local Forest Warden. Mr, Tapp will work under the* supervision of Raymond M. Johnson, chief Forest Warden of Rappahannock County in fire control work. Mr. Tapp will be furnished with a complete set of forest fire fighting tools by the Virginia Forest Service. Mr. Tapp will be given a commission by Governor Battle, after which he will . be sworn in before the County Clerk and will join the large force of public spirited men throughout the State of Virginia who help to control forest fires. Contrary to public ideas, forest wardens are not salaried employees of the State. They are men .who ar€ interested in conservation of timber and helping Keep Virginia Green, They have the authority to mobilize man-power and fight forest fires in the State. They are paid by the State on an hourly basis while actually suppressing or investigating forest fires. Any forest fire discovered within the vicinity , of Mr. Tapp's residence should be promptly reported to him or to Mr. Johnson, Chief Forest Warden of your county.
