Baseball Game
The practice game for the county firemen's baseball team took place Sunday afternoon on the high school baseball diamond at Washington when the County Firemen played the Rappahannock High School team. Both teams fought hard for the game. The school boys showed practice and gave the be9t that was in them, as some were in hopes of making die firemen’s team. There was a large crowd present and even though the firemen, who had put in eighteen men to test ability as players, lost 6-4. EVeryone seemed to have had a good time. The enthusiasm was as it should have been, "All for Rappahannock.”
Mayor Will Pitch First Ball
Opening Firemen's
Her Honor, (Mayor Dorothy C. Davis, win pitch out the first ball opening the season for the fireman’s baseball team at the high school diamond, Washington, on Sunday afternoon at 8 o’clock.
(There have been no announcements as to whether Hie (Mayor has another date to play golf.)
Bon Weddle will pitch at the opening of the Chiefs first game.
The three fire companies of Rappahannock have joined forces to organise the "Fire Chiefs” into a team. Plans a-foot designate that the first few games must be played on the present available fields, but the firemen are scheduling work on cleaning a permanent and adequate baseball diamond at Flat Woods, between Washington and Sperryville.
The first game will be with Stephens City, which was listed as leader of the league last year.
