The gentlemanly or ladylike mien, developed in the growing personality disappears like magic, and a snarl crowds its way to the kindly face of a few moments ago. Instead of the “I beg your pardon,” of the elevator, there is the “What the—do you think you’re doing?” of the automobile.

The other day I parked my car at the end of the row of legal parking places. As I came out of the building to drive .off, another car tried to squeeze in behind me. The driver jumped out, left his motor running, and dashed into the building. His car whammed into the bade of mine.

Mine was just three days old, in my possession, and I was still meticulously careful about it I saw a slight dent where the jalopy had whammed into my rear bumper, but I decided to let it go and pull out. v Nothing doing, as I started forward to turn out, the jalopy closed in behind me and whammed again as I stopped to get out I saw that the young heathen had a brake lever in his car but apparently no brakes operating on the car. It could not be stopped even on the gentle incline where we stood. -So I went into the building to ask him to hold his engine long enough <to let me get out from in front of him. He finally dashed out, barely glanced at my bumper with his car nestled against it, ignored me, pumped into his car, and with a squeal and a succession of rearend explosions he went like a bat out of Hades around
