Wheat Price Support Set
At $2.40 for County
A base price support of $2.40 per bushel for 1953 wheat in Rappahannock county has just been announced by the local office of Production and Marketing Administration.
H. S. Barksdale, PMA county chairman, said supports will be carried out through loans and purchase agreements, both available to producers through January 81, 1964. Wheat‘loans mature April 30, 1954.
Virginia farmers placed nearly a million bushels of wheat from the 1952 crop under PMA’s loan program, Mr. Barksdale said, representing 2,991 separate loans. In Rappahannock county there were 8 loans made oh 8,166.67 bushels of wheat.
