I could not follow him, angry as I was, for I have to pay respect to speed laws in our town, and the young heathen was already more than a block away before I realized how he had skirted my left end for a touchdown with the jalopy.

Then I went to the -police station, with three counts against the young heathen. Illegal parking, speeding and driving without brakes.

A few minutes ago the Chief of Police called me. That car, he told me, belonged to the high school son of a friend of mine. Did I want to press the charges against him? I thought it over.

Perhaps I am wrong in not forgetting that he did not even say “Sorry,” when he saw what he had done. But,'I don’t know. And I can't get myself to believe that I was to blame for being in his way when his car failed to stay put where he tossed it Good old Adam!
