GARDEN CLUB MEETING
• On the lovely vine-covered porch of Mont Medi, the home of Mrs. C. R, Hite, the Rappahannock Garden Club assembled Wednesday, June 24 for an all day meeting.
An interesting and informative lecture-demonstration was given by Mrs. Arthur F. Stocken of Arlington, in the morning session.
Each member brought a lunch. From the pooled lunches all enjoyed the buffet style meal.
The afternoon was devoted to a clinic. After the members prepared flower arrangements Mrs. Stocken criticized them and offered helpful suggestions.
Mrs. Stocken was accompanied by Mrs. Joe K. Bailey who is also an authority in the field of Flower Arrangement.
Mrs. MevaF. Dodson
Mrs. Neva Florence Dodson, wife of Geofge Ernest Dodson, of A missvitie, died early Tuesday morning, June 23, at the Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dodson, 68, was the daughter of the late Benton Nicholson and the late Mrs. Bertie Burke Nicholson of Rappahannock County.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Dodson is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Russell Smith, Mrs. Johnnie. Haddey, Mrs. Charles Hackley of Amissville; Mrs. John Mozingo, Castleton; Mrs. Charles Settle, Estes; Mrs. Edward Nicholson of Stevens City. sons, Jade, Rixeyville; Milton and Thomas of Amissville; Robert of Remington; Acrey, Castleton; and Eugene of Viewtown. Two sisters, Mrs. Ather Nicholson, Amissville; Mrs. Stella Hawkins, Front Royal. Four brothers John Nicholson of Linden; Jim Nicholson, Richmond; Jack Nicholson of Washington, D. C. and 39 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Amissville Baptist church with Rev. Harold Carder, assisted by Rev. A. Paul Thompson of Sperryville conducting the services. Interment was in the family section of the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ted Nicholson, Dick Nicholson, James Burke, Walter Dodson, Reed Burke, and Bobby Nicholson.
