Dear Mr. Weatherman: Mr. Weatherman Republican Washington, D. C. Dear Sir:
My holler is feeble, but here it is: “Uncle!” I’ve had enough. I know when I’m licked.
I know you Republicans are in charge now; please forgive me for voting the Democratic ticket. In my misguided way, I thought I was right. I still think the same, but this heat has me defeated. If you’ll just stop predicting more of this 90° weather, I’ll try very hard to be better. I'll ask Arthur Miller not to raise the post office box rent again in order to worry Lewis Turner. I’ll even try to convince Lucio Kilby that I have no personal grudge against him whenever I poke a little fun at you Republicans.
After all, you Republicans have to take the blame for everything that goes wrong now, and where, surely, you can see you’ve made a few minor mistakes, this hotweather seige you seem to have carried a bit too far!
We’ve endured this first 12 days with patience. After all, we Democrats realized that you were making your fellow Republicans suffer with us, but enough is enough! We’re even beginning to pity the Republicans now!
Please, Mr. Weatherman, I realize you can’t go back on your prediction of the next five days of humid h—, but couldn’t you take pity and give us a relief after the five days are up?
Penitently and imploringly
Yours,
The Perspiring Editor.
