Words do not adequately pay tribute to such a person as “Mr. Willie” Compton. Mr. Willie was for many years a source of sunshine and encouragement to the ones at Rappahannock News. He twice daily paid a visit t o the office and his merry hello was always elevating to the printers. We were all proud to call Mr. Willie a friend and fellow-printer. Having worked at his chosen profession for 63 years he came back to his native town to retire. Once asked by a member of the staff _how long it took to learn all of , the phases of printing, he answered “I didn’t have time to learn it all”. He was beloved by all here, even the mascot “Duchess’ would get up out of Mr. Willie’s big arm chair when she saw him coma in. He was always interested in what was going on in the town and especially in the Fire Department— 'being an honorary member, and one of the organizers of the Fire Department. — To his family we would like to express our deepest sympathy.——
