Later we attended Cinerama as guests of International Harvester. It stirred our pride in America to see it presented in this new exciting, new medium. Our lunch was also presented by International.
At the annual Thomas E. Wilson banquet, a meal \ which has been served at every club congress, we met Bob Feller, Otto Graham, Arnold Palmer and Don Liddle. The sports stars agreed that it takes a good man, no matter what his race, to play a good game.The
main speaker ,at this meal however, was Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, who presented the nation’s newest development in foreign policy. We felt honored to be the first to hear this address.
He helped us understand the theme of this club congress “Working together for world understanding.”
The breakfast program next morning was presented by Sears, Roebuck and Co. The Purdue University Glee Club sang. This was most enjoyable and their singing of “The Lord’s Prayer” was impressive.
Lunch was donated by Montgomery Ward, at the South Shore Country Club. Each girl received an informative and useful cook book. After the meal, Fred Waring'and the Pennsylvanians sang, among the selections “A Place In the Sun.” He wrote this song and
