This results from the recent repeal of the Holland Amendment, which made compliance with all acreage allotments a condition for ACP cost-sharing.
Farmers must still comply with their allotments to be eligible for CCC loans or other price support and, nuts, mark
in the case of tobacco, peacotton
and wheat, to avoid
eting quota penalties. Marketing quotas are not applicable for corn or for wheat where 15 acres
or less is grown.
My. Barksdale said that this legislation would benefit mainly the Wfheat growers with less than 15 acres and the corn growers in the commercial counties of Accomack; Isle of Wight, Nansemond, Norfolk, Northhampton, Princess Anne, Southampton, Surry and Sussex, ’who may not be interested in price support on these commodities but who do wish to participate in the Agricultural Conservation Program. ' Wheat fanners, who are interested in CCC loans, and those with allotments of more than 15 acres are still urged to utilize any excess acres by cutting for hay, turning for green manure, or .cutting for green silage before June 1, 1955..
Flint Hill Loses To
Stevenson, 4-3
The Flint Hill A. C.’s played the perfect host to Stevenson Sunday. The A. C.’s were defeated 4-3 oi\ a rain drenched field.
The star of the game would have been Ellington if he had not pulled the ball so much. He came to bat in the 1st with the bases loaded and unleashed a terrific 400 ft. drive to left field for a ground rule double.
Riley, pitching for Flint Hill, went four innings allowing one run for four hits and retired seven men via the strike-out route. McCarty relieved Riley in the 5th with 2 men on.
Stevenson was unable to get to McCarty but a couple.of errors scored the runs before rain halted the game. The errors were attributed to some irregularities in the field, (not players). Riley was the losing pitcher.
From here it looks like the Flint Hill A. C.’s have come to life in preparation for the game with the Chiefs on Monday the 30th of this month. (Memorial Day). See you at the game.
The A. C.’s journey to Middletown this Sunday. They leave with the best wishes of the Flint Hill fans.
