Mrs. Thornhill taught us how to do smocking on children’s dresses and other dress finishes.

The home demonstration dub Work was discontinued then until 1944. Mrs. Wilkerson was the - first agent after resuming the work in the county. The charter members at this time were: Mrs., Charles Green, Mrs. Less Wal. ter, Mrs. Will Walter, Mrs. Katherine Riley, Mrs. A. C. Latham, Sr., and Mrs. C. A. 'Smith.

From 1941 to 1945 we learned how to cook, without sugar using syrup and honey instead. Mrs. -f Wilkersoo, whose husband was serving in the armed forces, left us to be with him in (1945 when he ••returned from o very as. Our next agent was Mias Rum Brum back who came in July 1945. . Miss Bruimback was a, very effident leader and we learned many useful facts under her leadership. One interesting project was chetse making. Miss Brumback married in 1946 and left us to become a housekeeper herself. ,

Following Miss Brumback we had Miss Rhoten, who came in

ianuary .1947 and stayed until larch 1948, at which time she resigned because of poor health.. We had a meeting on wills and deeds while Miss Rhoten was our leader; with Rayner Snead as the guest speaker. ;* Miss Janet Solleberger was our next agent coming into office in June of 1948. I remember we had Christmas center pieces, slip covers • and home made* gifts under Miss Sollenberger’i instruction. Cupid i claimed this agent too, and she left us in May 1951 to become a home maker. t Our present home demonstration leader came then in August of 1951 and has remained longer than 4ny other agent. Some interesting project undertaken by Miss . Fuss have been caning chairs, restyling hats, cooking with herbs and hooking rugs, etched aluminum trays. Even though Miss Fuss has been married and is now Mis. Powers, she plans to con, tinue her work as home demonf strat ion Agent. in Rappahannock County.
