FLINT HILL

Though there had been some Home Demonstration work in the county from time to time, Flint Hill homemakers did not Organize until January 23, 1945.
It was during the last months of the war when some foods, textiles, tires and other materials were scarce and the first demonstrations centered around conservation, victory gardens and labor saving methods. Before long, community 'needs were noticed and among the first was the need for a full time home agent.; The members .contacted their supervisor and did all they could to obtain these services. Community health, war bond sales, saving of used fats, 4-H club sponsoring and organizing the PTA were some of the projects studied and carried out that first year. Charter members were Mrs. R. L. Massie, Mrs. Frank Cary, Miss Ruth Stevens and Mrs. J. P. Cook.
Soon the club started taking part in county planning meetings and leaders meetings, broadening its program to reach more community needs.'Much planning was done and the resulting programs improved living conditions and brought more beauty into the homes. Leaders were trained to
