Some of the community services rendered by club members are: voluntary 4-H club leaders (two of these have received' the Silver Clover award for more than five years of service, Mrs. Frank Cary who has served 9 years and Mrs. W. A. Gentry who has served 8) help with Red Cross blood bank, donations of food and clothing for needy, parties given for school at Eastej- time, cooperating with the health department to get T B clinic, < before health unit was organized) contributions made regularly to March of Dimes, 4-H clubs, street light fund, “Pennies for friendship” fund (sent abroad to further friendship between our county and others. Many of the women correspond with friends jn foreign countries in a “pen pal” arrangement.
There is a long list of demonstrations given for the improvement of family health,, beautification of home and grounds, better housekeeping methods, skill in sewing, decorating, flower arrangements, crafts, recreation, furniture refinishing, making of slip covers, drapes and other decorations about the home, better gardens, freezing and canning of\ foods, millenery, water systems, kitchen planning, care and choice of equipment, rug making and many more.
Each year for the past four years a summer trip has been planned with Flint Hill members enjoying each one. Some historical spot or science attraction is included. This year the goal is a two day trip to Hershey and Gettysburg, Pa.
There is not a larger membership than in the begnining but those who have kept up their membership have learned many skills, have improved their living in many ways and have helped many others in the community. Of the organized membership, the following are still active: Mrs. Cary, Mrs. Cook, Miss Ruth Stevens.
The Extension agents who have worked wi.th the club: Mrs. Wilkerson, Mrs. Ruth Brumback Sutphin, Miss Louise. Rhoton, Mrs. Janet Sollenberger Kilby, Mrs. Elizabeth Fuss Powers.
Miss Matilda.Garner did some Home Demonstration work in the county in 1932 but the club was not organized at that time.
