Paynes Injured In Two-Car Collision, Sunday
Mrs. Frances Hudson Payne and two children were injured Sunday morning in a 2-car col* luibn on route 707, - Slate Milb, 11 miles west of Culpeper.^ ■ Driving a 1952 Pontiac, | Mrs. Payne was headed west, returning from Sunday School when the head on collision occured with the 1953 Buick, driven by Hugh Yowell of Culpeper. Mrs. Payne suffered head and chest injuries, while the children suffered minor injuries. Susan had lacerations of the leg and Beverly had a slight back injuiy. I! Mr. Yowell had laceratiefis of the chin. His wife, who was accompanying him, suffered lacerations of the face and skull. Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Yowell [were hospitalized in the University of Virginia Hospital. (Mrs. . Payne was released Tuesday after undergoing treatment.) j Mr. Yowell has been charged with reckless driving. The investigating officer at the scene of the accident was Trooper R. M.i Patton.
