Graveside services were held Saturday evening, September 17 at the Masonic Cemetery, Washington, for Mrs. James Samuel (Texana) Atkins, who died Thursday at the age of | 83. The Reverend A. Paul Thompson of Sperryville conducted the last rites.
Mrs. Atkins had lived in the county most of her married life. Five years ago she went to Cleveland, Ohio to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Barber ; 2 years later she came to .visit her other daughter, Mrs. J. R. Pickens, in Arlington. She waa there when death occured. ■■
Though Mrs. Atkins had suffered a long period of declining health, she hoped to be able to return to Rappahannock, her old home. When her health was better, she had made an annual visit to friends in the county. She was esteemed by all who knew hen
