EMPLOYERS RATE TEEN-AGERS HIGHLY
Despite public concern over today’s teen-agers, recent high school graduates working for New York City firms rate fairly high with 255 employers reporting on their work habits, social attitudes and basic skills in a survey recently made public.
The companies graded their young employees generally Higher in personal attributes as integrity, ability to get along with others, desire to develop and progress, fairness, courtesy and neatness, than in the basic skills of reading, writing, arithmetic, grammar and
spelling. _ , I
Participating companies jwere asked to grade the graduates on the basis of poor, fair, gobd and excellent. The survey riport showed that 76 per cent 'of the 265 employers believed development of better work habits merited
increased attention J>f the schools, while 69 per cehll would
like to have more attention paid to basic skills and 33 per |cent to social attitudes.
