f)ies At Age 82

George Thomas Smoot, a lifelong resident of Rappahannock County, died Wednesday, February 10, at his residence in Washington, Va. Son of the late Johnson and Sarah Shenk Smoot, he was 82 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, the former Etta French; eight sons, George, Harvey, Reuben, Clabert, Arthur, William and Herbert Smoot, all of Washington, Va., and Bernard Smoot of the U.S. Army in Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Eddie Foster of Washington, Va., Mrs. Lyle Foster of Warrenton, Mrs. Marvin Klines of Front Royal and Mrs. Beatrice Frazier of Hendersonville, N. C.

Mr. Smoot also leaves 47 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
