Most workers and self-employed people are having earnings credited to their social security account regularly, according to Miss Florence Schaffner, Field Representative of the Alexandria Social Security Office. This statement dose not apply ; to some people, notably, the household workers who are not receiving „! credit under the social security program for their work. 1 - There ary cases on file in the local social security office where it was necessary to contact as many as six different employers for information concerning domestics they employed. These cases came to our attention' when a benefit claim was filed and the record of wages did not show credit for do- i mestic employment. The employer Simply did not report the wages to the Director of Internal Revenue for the employee. It was necessary to contact the employer for information concerning the wages that should have been reported for social security purposes. ‘ All persons who pay household help $50 or more in cash wages during a three month period, must report the wages to the Director of Internal Revenue.
