Extreme weather in the Deep South will also cut down some on broiler supplies.

Broiler prices have been running ahead of last year during most of January, despite larger supplies. With die gap narrowing, there is every indication of underlying strength.

Looking a link farther ahead, prices probably will not hit die 19cent peak they readied in March of 1960. Supplies this year increase steadily from now on, without die dip they took early in February last year.

This same upward trend gets steeper as the spring advances. It the present trend of placements continues, broiler supplies could get as high as 25 per cent above a year ago.
