Mrs. Bertie L«i0 Mottett, wno is retiring from the teaching profession after thirty-seven years, was presented a silver bowl by Mrs. Mary Quaintance, from the Association.
After dinner, Dr. G. iTyler Miller, President of Madison College, spoke to the group, giving '' some humorous incidents in the life of the honor guest and explaining the type of work that Mr. Gasque will be doing at Madison. Although Dr. Miller is Rappahannock’s “Native Son,” he expressed qualnis at coming back to Rappahannock and Warren, saying he felt like “Banquo’s Ghost," since he was taking a most loved, honored and respected man from us.
The presentation of silver candlelabra to Mr. and Mrs. Gasque by Mr. H. B. Winfrey, on behalf of the Rappahannock County Education Association, climaxed the evening, after which everyone stood, joined hands, and sang Auld Lang Syne led by Mr. Hounshell.
