If you sign up to divert but don’t want price supports, you can collect between $22 and $50 an acre for the diverted land, and still feed the corn. Ear com, corn silage and wet corn are all considered corn under the program.
Payments, varying by counties, are listed in youir ASC office on the basis of county average yields. If your average is above or below, your acre rate will be adjusted accordingly.
If you do sign, the ASC office will give you cash for your certificate at the time you get it, and it might be a good idea to take it, even if you want grain instead.
There is no CCC corn in Virginia. The only place you can swap a certificate for com is with a grain dealer, and he may discount your certificate. Cash will always buy corn.
Com in Richmond last week was quoted at $1.19 a bushel for Number 2 yellow, with the Valley at $1.30 to $1.36 and Norfolk at $1.15.

Egg prices ought to hold close to present levels for another two weeks or so, but look for a drop before mid-May.
