As of April 1, the total number of layers in the nation was two per cent less than last year, but a higher rate of lay gave us a few more eggs for total production.
Egg-type chicks hatched during the past 10 months ending April 1 were up 28 per cent over a year earlier. The bulk of replacements came later la9t year, so there is little likelihood of producers turn-' ing diem loose this summer.
However, it is still too early to tell what the additional replacements will do to total layers or to egg production.
Eggs in Virginia last week were quoted at 33 to 34 for Grade A large, 31 to 32Vii for mediums and 20 to 22 for smalls. New York Grade A large were 34 to 371/ja, mediums 32 to 33.

Thus the decoration on both sides of the vase celebrate the ascendency of nobility, that is strength, protection and veneration, jver murky and shameful acts through the performance of impossibly miraculous tasks.
