His transfer brings to Richmond another weather prognosticator. Weather predicting is one of Montgomery’s hobbies, and his lectures on the subject have been in demand at fire training sessions within the Park Service and in cooperation with the State and U.S. Forest Services.

News Fori Veterans

Veterans receiving VA non service-connected disability checks are entitled to them only if their incomes remain below the annual limits established by law. The limits for pension laws in effect before July 1, 1960 are $1400 for veteran without dependents, and $2700 tor veterans with dependents. Under pension laws in effect since July 1, 1960 these limits are changed to $1800 and $300 with a sliding scale of pension payments.

Any veteran who receives money in a lump sum, or who begins to receive income at a rate which will bring his total income for 1961 to more than his applicable limit, must immediately notify the VA. If he does not notify the VA that he has gone over his legal limit or expects to exceed his limit, he will most probably be required to pay back all the pension money he has received for the entire year.

Income limitations do not apply to veterans receiving compensation for service-connected disabilities.
