Nevertheless wljen we multiply 43,415 tons by $4.83 it figures into big money. Also one cannot afford to over look the cost a farmer puts into handling, hauling and storing fertilizer. I don’t know what this would be per ton as it would vary with the quantity purchased, length of haul, etc. However, our Virginia farmers would, have had less cost and fewer back aches and the same amount of plant food by using the 3-18-18. You just don’t handle 14,471 tons of fertilizer without spending money and energy.
Remember on an acre basis 600 lbs of 3-12-12 will do the same good as 900 lbs. 2-12-12. The 600 pounds of 3-12-12 has a lower initial cost, costs less to handle. Had you rather push a pencil than strain vcur back, and drain your pocketbook; or is it the other way around ?
