57 Chevrolet. Smoot had apparently passed an unidentified vehicle and struck die Carter automobile head an as he came from the opposite direction.

Carter was treated for face injuries at Warren Memorial Hospital and released. Flint Hill Rescue Squad took him to die hospital.

About $1,200 in damages was done to die vehicles,* according to State Trooper W. A. Buntin.

Clater Transferred

To Portsmouth

Kenneth Clater, who was hospitalized in the University of Virginia Hospital with injuries he received in an automobile accident a few weeks ago, has been transferred to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Portsmouth. Clater is undergoing surgery on his leg.
