Too frequently we hear our own people criticizing their county. Sevhave said to me: “Well, tell me one thing we can brag about." There are many things: our people, our natural beauty, etc. which we can be proud of.
The latest comes from the Brucellosis Vaccinations Progress Record of the Division of Animal and Dairy Industry, Virginia Department of Agriculture.
At the end of September Rappahannock fanners had vaccinated 66.9 per cent of their heifer calves against Brucellosis, thereby leading all Virginia counties; AND we don’t even have a resident Vet.
Culpeper county ranked 2nd with 57.1, Orange 3rd with 55.6. For your information, calfhood vaccination against Brucellosis not only protects the animal, but also your health. The fewer cases of Brucellosis we have in our cattle, it is perfectly natural to expect fewer cases of Undulent Fever, in humans.
