The services of a local county ably uniform throughout the state, health department, while reasonare modified to a certain extent to meet local needs. The usual services provided by your local department may be outlined as follows: Vital Statistics, Control of Communicable Disease, Tuberculosis Control, Maternal and Child Health, School Health Services, Crippled Children (including rheumatic fever, congenital heart defects, seizure), Chronic Disease (cancer, heart, diabetes, strokes, etc.), Veneral Disease Control, Sanitation and Health Education.
The Public Nurse does home visiting for patient instruction and supervision. Her services are available to anyone, usually on referral from the family physician, family, schools or social agencies. The nurse assists in clinics, which' is the only service limited to medically indigent patients; however,, no one is denied this service of they request it.
