The brochure will probably first improve tourist business, however, it should ultimately improve economics of the county across the board—all people should benefit.
Generally speaking, the public: farmers, townspeople, business firms, businessmen, contributed liberally of their goods, time and services. The county should be proud of this willingness-to-help spirit. No doubt another auction will be held later on, so you’ll still have an opportunity to help Rappahannock help herself, even though you may not be among the charter group.
After the last item was sold, and there were any number of real bargains, I kept my ear tuned for comments from the sideline. “We should have had more food, especially sandwiches.” Barbara Jones and her group were sold out before the lunch hour. “The Boy Scouts could contribute by helping display items as they are brought in.help ladies carry purchases to their cars.” One person expressed disappointment at not finding plants ( flower and vegetable) offered. “Let’s keep it a county event aimed at helping the county as a whole_ _no one individual, no single organization..after all the Rappahannock Development Committee has everybody at heart !”\
