Since radiation material accumulates in milk, cows should be given preferred protection and care in an emergency. It would be a good idea to give them tihe feed and water least exposed to radioactivity. Milk or meat should not be used from animals that show radiation sickness. It would be important to bury animals that do die, covering them with at least two feet of earth. At present too little is known about handling land and crops after heavy fallout, but research is continuously being made and more information will be available later. This would not be an immediate problem anyway as the first and most important steps would be the protection of family and livestock.
